To promote the full particioation, total access econcomic and social intergration of persons with disabilities, and to enhance the lives of those we touch by assisting them identify and reach their career goals.

1. SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR EMPLOYABILITY

  • PC Operations NC II

A 12-week training with curriculum components composed of three major modules, covering the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudinal (K,S,A) component of competency-based training. It aims to equip trainees with computer operation skills for backroom operations such as encoding, billing and transcription works

Utilizes a completely digitalized the training curriculum (PC Operations NC2)

Produced 630 graduates, 346 of which are deaf

  • Computer Literacy Training Program

A special program designed specifically for soldiers disabled in the line of duty to acquire office skills and enable their re-integration into their respective mother units for administrative duties

Curriculum backbone based on PC Operations NC II with additional modules on E-Commerce, basic Communication skills, basic Math and Advocacy on Disability issues

Produced 63 graduates

  • Call Center Training Program for the Blind

Developed a twelve-day (12) training module

Secured equipment donations from AVAYA Philippines for the communication server (Media Gateway) for call center operation incorporating JAWS which is a software program that translates digital information into audio.

Produced 15 graduates in 2 pilot runs in partnership with Teledevelopment Inc. (a call center training institution), Inc., Genpack Philippines (a call center company) and Akap Pinoy (umbrella organization of disabled persons organizations) in 2008 and 2009

  • Medical Transcription Training Program for the Blind & Disabled Persons

Developed a medical transcription training program incorporating the SUM training program and JAWS program

Piloted one training batch of 25 disabled beneficiaries in partnership with the AUSAID and the IMF-CPAC under a Work-at-Home concept project submitted to and accepted by the World Banks’ First Phil Development Innovation in the Marketplace Project (DIM Project)

Of the 25 work-at-home project beneficiaries, 15 qualified as transcriptionist (8 were given further training and hired by TTSI, while 7 were hired at 700 Club)

 2. BEHAVIORAL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYABILITY

A module incorporated in all training programs to equip the participants with the capabilities and world view for the transition towards a professional life

Trained 634 participants

3. JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The program aims to assist trainee-graduates acquire employment through Nova Foundation or on their own

As of December 2010, 374 of our trainee-graduates are now gainfully employed

  • 108 in Government
  • 231 in Industry

4. ADVOCACY PROGRAM

Nova Foundation has actively participated in various fora for the PWD Sector either as a Resource Person, Contributor to policy advocacy formulation and/or as Exhibitor

As part of our advocacy, we create awareness of our Mission among potential future leaders of our country and our society.  Thus, we have opened our doors to students who are interested in the concerns of the PWD Sector. Through our Student Immersion Program, we provide them in-depth exposure to our endeavors.

We have provided such meaningful experience to more than 20 students from seven schools

In Government, we engaged in assisting government institutions put flesh to and operationalize the provisions of the various legislation aimed at establishing disabled-friend environment. In the process, we are also assisting Government fulfill its obligations to UNCRPD. Our achievements include:

  • Enabling the DOH operationalize its Online Registry for PWDs where NOVA Foundation obtained funding from Christoffel Blinden Mission for the development of the IT infrastructure and operationalization of the online system.
  • Enabled the Department of National Defense to explore additional avenues in their efforts to re-integrate disabled soldiers
  • Provided input on the needs of disabled persons in relation to B.P. 344 Accessibility Law of the Philippines which helped in the formulation and drafting of the DOTC MC No.: _____

5. SUPPORT SYSTEM PROGRAM

Among our trainees, we inculcate stewardship on the opportunities extended them by employers, benefactors, and other individuals and institutions who went out of their way to their open doors to PWDs through:

- “within REACH” newsletter
- values formation during our training
- orientation and graduation exercises

Established the infrastructure for a mutual support system among the graduates through:

  • “within REACH” newsletter to update NOVA graduates and other PWDs on the activities of the Foundation and its graduates and reach out to different companies and create awareness and provide an access points to those who are interested
  • - Social Networking sites, serving as an interactive medium for updating and networking among themselves, other PWDs and other interested individuals or organizations
